The Smith-Muirhead Gallery represents work by Canada's leading landscape photographers who have a committed practice of work that embodies traditional aesthetics in photographic art with current strategies to protect endangered wilderness areas through their images and publications. We endeavour to challenge and inspire viewers, collectors and institutions through dynamic and engaging exhibition programming.

Prints selected for our limited editions are chosen based on the following criteria that leads to a fine art print: geometric underpinnings to the picture frame, dramatic depth of field, theatrical use of lighting, and innovative use of photography as a medium of expression. The photographers take extraordinary measures in getting to these wilderness locations and may have to wait it out in all types of weather to get the compositions they are after. We look for overall compositional integrity and presentation to offer a collector a fine art print of lasting value.
